Sunday Sanity Two!

Sunday 18.09.11

This is our first Sunday pub walk of the school year. We plan to visit every pub in a five mile radius of our house and include into this a short walk just to work up a thirst. We've driven to the next village,Haversham and found a watering hole called the Greyhound. It's a quaint little pub, low ceilings and rather cosy. The beer was excellent,Greenalls IPA and the Sunday lunch looked good. The menu really tempted me as I saw, sticky toffee pudding. (Watch out for a future blog spot, the sticky toffee pudding trail!). After we went and visited the local church, beautiful carpets of cyclamen.

Friday Field Walk Seven

Friday 21.10.11

Hurray we've made it, the end of the first half term! That glass of red wine is well deserved. Now we can look forward to a week of holiday.

Friday Field Walk Six

Friday 14.10.11

Friday evening once again. The weather has been superb today, not a cloud. Took my sixth form students to Wrest Park for a spot of drawing and photography  au plein air. The light could not have been better as the park in front of the house has a line of white marble statues lining a walk down to the lake. The photo opportunities were excellent. I spent the day drawing, what a pleasure.

Friday Field Walk Five

Friday 7.10.11

This Friday we have a special visitor washed up upon our shores. David has been introduced to our Friday ritual and has passed in style. This is just to wet our appetite,an aperitif before the evenings proceedings. We will have sauna, Davids favourite, really cooking. It will be great to listen to all his adventures on ther high seas.

Friday Field Walking Four

Friday 30.9.11

We really are having an excellent autumn. Friday evening and the sun is casting long shadows across the fields. A perfect opportunity to have a glass of pims!

Friday Field Walking Three

Friday 23.9.11

That friday feeling is upon us once again. That gin and tonic tastes soooooo good.

Friday Field Walking Two

Friday 16.9.11
This is such a good idea. That moment in the week when you can leave school behind you, open the gate at the bottom of the garden and walk out into our own vista.

Friday Field Walking One.

Friday 9.9.11

Friday arriving means a walk in the fields behind our house. A drink in hand and the country side opening out in front of us helps to blow away the trials of the week. This is the end of our first week back at school after the summer holidays and we've made it through! The plan we've hatched is to visit this spot at the end of each week throughout the school year, in all 38 times! Should be interesting to see how the seasons change and if the horizon line advances up the frame as the weight of work increases!

Sunday Sanity One!

Sunday 11.9.11
Our Picnic View

Hanna and myself have decided to deny the madness of school to impose itself on our Sundays by going for a walk and (hopefully) a pint. Our first weekend walk was to the local Salcey Forest at the back of our house. It was a lovely sunny day, the smells and colours of autumn are just being noticed. We took our morning coffee and found a seat looking out over the surrounding fields.
